New Zealand Sets Financial Criteria for Student Work Visa

New Zealand has outlined the minimum financial requirements for foreign nationals seeking its student and trainee work visa, which is intended for individuals pursuing hands-on work experience in various fields, including religious trainees and dental trainees. The New Zealand immigration authority mandates that applicants must demonstrate access to at least NZD $1,000 per month during their stay.

However, those who have prepaid their accommodation may qualify with a reduced requirement of NZD $400 per month. Acceptable forms of financial evidence include bank statements, credit card statements, bank drafts, traveller's cheques, proof of pre-paid accommodation, or a completed Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entry from an approved sponsor.

Applicants who do not meet the financial threshold independently may still qualify if they have a suitable sponsor, who must provide their own financial evidence, such as recent bank statements or pay slips.
