New Zealand Sets Salary Criteria for Foreign Residency

Immigration New Zealand has published the salary and employment conditions that foreign nationals must fulfill to qualify for a Straight to Residence Visa via the Green List programme. The Green List consists of occupations identified as priority areas, divided into Tier 1 and Tier 2 based on skill level.

Tier 1 positions provide a direct pathway to permanent residence, while Tier 2 roles require applicants to first obtain a Work to Residence Visa. To be eligible, applicants must meet a salary threshold and additional registration, membership, and qualification requirements pertinent to their occupation.

Acceptable proof of employment must clearly indicate the position, working hours, duration, and pay rate. Contracts that are continuous or collectively total six months or more are considered valid.
