NFF Monitors Iran Conflict Amid Super Eagles Friendlies Uncertainty

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is closely monitoring the escalating conflict involving Iran, which has led to uncertainty surrounding the Super Eagles' scheduled friendlies. The team is set to participate in a four-nation invitational tournament in Amman, Jordan, with matches against Iran on March 27 and Costa Rica on March 31.

However, the rising political and military tensions in the Middle East have prompted concerns about Iran's participation. Reports indicate that the NFF is considering moving the fixtures to Europe for safety reasons.

NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, stated that discussions are ongoing to identify possible alternative venues if the situation worsens. NFF President Ibrahim Gusau has previously indicated that the federation would assess the situation before making a final decision.

The backdrop includes the United States and Israel launching a joint offensive against Iran on February 28, which has triggered retaliatory strikes across the region, raising security concerns that could impact sports events.
