NFF President Discusses Eric Chelle's Future as Super Eagles Coach Post-AFCON 2025

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, has addressed the future of Eric Chelle as the head coach of the Super Eagles following their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations win in Morocco on January 17, 2026. Chelle, who has two years remaining on his contract signed in January 2025, has split opinions among Nigerians on whether he should stay or be sacked.

Gusau confirmed that discussions are ongoing regarding Chelle's contract extension after the team's 2025 bronze medal win. Chelle has expressed his belief in continuing to work with the Super Eagles beyond his current contract.

The former Mali head coach has also been linked to the vacant Olympique Marseille job and has been touted as a potential candidate for Real Madrid.
