Niger Delta Stakeholders Urge Oil Firms to Uphold PIA Obligations for Community Development

The Niger Delta Citizen Alliance (NDCA) has called on oil companies operating in the Niger Delta to uphold their statutory obligations under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), particularly the three percent annual contribution to host community development trust funds. The NDCA commended the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) for overseeing the disbursement of N373 billion in host community development funds and 500 ongoing projects in the Niger Delta region.

The stakeholders highlighted the need for transparency, local labor support, and community collaboration in oil wealth distribution.
