Niger Govt Mandates Preachers to Submit Sermons for Approval

The Governor of Niger State confirmed in an interview with Politics Sunday on TVC that preachers are now required to submit their sermons for approval. Governor Bago stated that the collaboration between security agencies and the state government aims to monitor and curb harmful or inciting messages in sermons.

The government introduced a policy for reviewing sermons and mandated a licensing requirement for preachers. Earlier, the head of Niger State Religious Affairs announced that clerics must apply for a new license within two months.

This move is part of efforts to regulate the content of sermons and ensure they align with state regulations and do not incite violence or spread harmful messages.
