Niger State Revenue Service Monthly Income Hits N5 Billion

The Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) announced a significant increase in its monthly income, reaching N5 billion, up from an average of N4 billion. Mohammed Etsu, the Executive Chairman of NSIRS, disclosed this during an ethical leadership retreat held in Suleja on Tuesday.

He attributed the revenue growth to the reforms implemented under Governor Umar Bago's administration, which focus on investing in human capital development. Etsu noted that the agency's improved performance reflects strategic efforts to enhance staff capacity and address systemic gaps in revenue administration.

The retreat aimed to reinforce ethical standards within the agency, particularly in light of the sensitive nature of revenue management. Etsu emphasized that ethical leadership is crucial for sustaining the agency's growth trajectory and building public trust, which is essential for effective tax administration.

Over the past four years, the agency has consistently improved its revenue generation capabilities, achieving an average monthly collection of N600 million.
