Niger State's IGR Surges to N5 Billion Monthly

Niger State's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) has achieved an average of N5 billion monthly, a substantial increase from the previous average of N600 million. Alhaji Moham Etsu, the Executive Chairman of the Niger State Internal Revenue Service, credited this success to sustained institutional reforms initiated by Governor Moham Umaru Bago's administration.

These reforms include a focus on human capital development and ethical leadership, which were discussed during a leadership retreat held in Suleja on Tuesday. Etsu noted that over the past four years, the agency has consistently collected above the average levels, with monthly collections previously averaging between N500 million and N600 million.

He emphasized the need for improved performance within the agency to address systemic gaps and enhance public trust in revenue administration. The retreat involved participants from 25 local government areas and aimed to reinforce ethical standards and compliance across revenue streams, which are critical for effective public revenue management.
