Nigerdock and MSC Sign 45-Year Deal for Snake Island Terminal

Nigerdock, a Nigerian maritime logistics company, has entered into a 45-year sub-concession agreement with the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to develop, operate, and maintain a container terminal on Snake Island, Lagos. The new terminal will span 30 hectares and is scheduled for completion in 2028.

It will feature a 910-meter quay, six ship shore cranes, two ship berths, three barge berths, and an 18-meter draft. Maher Jarmakani, the Chief Executive Officer of Nigerdock, expressed excitement about the partnership with MSC, which aims to create a world-class container terminal that will attract significant foreign direct investment into Nigeria and boost the maritime logistics industry.

Diego Apont, President of MSC, highlighted the company's commitment to providing excellent service to customers in Nigeria and across Africa. The development is expected to generate local jobs and significantly increase economic revenue, enhancing the resilience of Snake Island port, which currently operates three terminals.
