MSC and Nigerdock Sign Major Agreement for Snake Island Port

Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world's largest shipping line, has entered into a 45-year sub-concession agreement with Nigerdock to develop and operate a container terminal at Snake Island Port in Lagos. The terminal will span 30 hectares and is projected for completion in 2028.

It will feature a 910-meter quay capable of accommodating six ships, equipped with three ship berths, two barge berths, and an 18-meter draft. Maher Jarmakani, CEO of Nigerdock, expressed enthusiasm for this partnership, highlighting its potential to transform the Snake Island Port into a world-class container terminal and attract significant foreign direct investment to Nigeria.

Diego Apont, President of MSC, noted that this development is part of a broader strategy to enhance maritime logistics in Nigeria and Africa, promising local job creation and increased economic revenue.
