Nigeria Begins Crackdown on Foreigners Overstaying Visas - Immigration Enforcement in Effect

Nigeria's Immigration Service (NIS) has initiated a crackdown on foreigners with expired visas following the end of an amnesty period. Akinsola Akinlabi, NIS spokesperson, announced the enforcement action nationwide for those who overstayed or violated entry conditions.

Penalties include payment for each day overstayed, possible removal, or entry bans. The sanctions apply to various visa categories, including business and residence permits.

Foreign nationals found in violation of immigration laws will face consequences to regularize their status. This move aims to ensure compliance with immigration regulations and maintain order in the country.
