Nigeria Immigration Cracks Down on Visa Overstayers - Penalties and Bans Imposed

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has initiated enforcement actions against visa overstayers in the country, targeting three groups of foreign nationals. The NIS spokesperson, Akinsola Akinlabi, announced the enforcement on Tuesday, September 30, with implementation starting on October 1.

Foreign nationals who have exceeded their visa stay or breached entry conditions face penalties, including fines, deportation, or entry bans. The enforcement aims to uphold immigration regulations and ensure compliance with visa requirements.

Violators may encounter financial penalties or be barred from entering Nigeria for varying durations, depending on the extent of their overstay. The NIS's crackdown underscores the government's commitment to regulating immigration and maintaining national security.
