Nigeria's Women Affairs Minister Advocates for Gender Inclusion

Gloria Ohagwu, the Minister of Women Affairs, stated that Nigeria cannot afford the leadership gap for women during the launch of an initiative designed to advance gender inclusion in governance structures. This event took place at the International Civil Service Conference in Abuja.

Ohagwu described the program as a strategic intervention aimed at strengthening institutional accountability and ensuring equal access to leadership opportunities for women in the public sector. She commended the advocacy efforts of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for vulnerable groups and reiterated the government's commitment to inclusive governance.

Ohagwu warned that the continued exclusion of women from senior leadership positions could have serious consequences for national productivity. She explained that the initiative aligns with the implementation of Nigeria's National Gender Policy (2021-2026) and the Women's Economic Empowerment Policy (2023-2028).

Sulaiman Ibrahim stressed the need for immediate policy implementation across ministries and the private sector to dismantle structural barriers against women. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Esther Walson-Jack, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Civil Service.
