Nigeria Customs Service Claims 2026 NUJ Football Title

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) football team triumphed in the 2026 Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Football Tournament, defeating the National Institute for Sports (NIS) 3-0 in the final held at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja. Captain Mikail Abubakar scored the first goal, marking his fifth goal of the tournament and securing his position as the highest goal scorer.

Despite efforts from NIS, coached by Jibril Yussuf, they could not equalize before halftime. In the second half, Familola Fatai extended the lead to 2-0, followed by Femi Omodara's goal sealing the victory.

Abubakar also received the tournament's golden boot and was named the most valuable player. His teammate, Charles Ahur, was awarded best goalkeeper after a standout performance, including saving two penalties in the semi-final.

The event featured eight teams, and the NUJ team received the fair play award. The organizing committee chairman, Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka, praised all participating teams.
