Nigeria Customs CG Calls for Upgrade of Sports Facilities

Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), addressed the state of sports facilities within the service, describing them as worrisome and in need of upgrade and modernization. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Maiden Zone A Inter-Command Games at the Customs Training College in Ikeja, he emphasized the importance of improving infrastructure to harness the abundant athletic talent within the NCS for global competitions.

Adeniyi noted that the facilities have remained largely unchanged for nearly 30 years, which he deemed unacceptable given the NCS's contributions to sports development in Nigeria. He highlighted the service's achievements in producing champion athletes and teams in various sports.

Furthermore, he announced the commencement of an ultra-modern sports facility construction in a service barracks in Kano and mentioned plans for a new sporting complex at the Customs Training College site. He linked the discipline and teamwork required in sports to the core mandates of the NCS.
