Nigeria and Egypt Boost Economic Ties with $223M Trade

Nigeria and Egypt are working to strengthen their economic ties, with bilateral trade recorded at $223 million in 2025. Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, announced this initiative during the Ministerial Roundtable on “Trade and Economic Cooperation at the Centre of Pan-African Diplomacy” at the inaugural Africa-Alamein Business Forum in New Alamein City, Egypt.
Enikanolaiye noted that the current trade levels are below potential and called for the implementation of agreements from the Nigeria-Egypt Business Forum held in July 2025, as well as the establishment of a Joint Investment Council. He urged African nations to prioritize trade and economic cooperation in Pan-African diplomacy.
Enikanolaiye also highlighted Nigeria's economic reforms since 2023, including a 4.43% economic growth in Q2 2026 and a reduction in inflation to 15.39% in August. He mentioned the launch of Nigeria’s National Single Window and the Nigeria Tax Act as measures to enhance trade facilitation.
