Mexico and Nigeria Strengthen Trade Relations in Abuja

During the 216th Mexican Independence Day celebration in Abuja, the Mexican Embassy and the Nigerian government discussed enhancing mutual cooperation to deepen economic ties and increase trade volumes in sectors such as agriculture, automobiles, oil, gas, and technology. Mr. Jose Manuel Briseno Flores, Charge d’ Affaires of the Mexican Embassy, praised Nigeria for nominating an ambassador to Mexico after a long hiatus and expressed optimism that collaboration would lead to significant projects and improvements in trade relations.

He emphasized the need to not only increase trade relations but also to multiply trade volumes significantly. Mr. Reno Omokri, the Nigerian Ambassador-designate to Mexico, acknowledged the currently low trade volumes between the two nations and assured that there are numerous areas for cooperation to bridge these gaps.

The discussions signal a potential new era for Nigerian exporters and investors looking to enter the Latin American market.
