Nigeria's Steel Minister Audu Advances Germany Partnership

The federal government of Nigeria is committed to strengthening industrial cooperation with Germany, particularly in steel development, technology transfer, mineral processing, and equipment manufacturing. This was stated by Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, the Minister of Steel Development, during a meeting with a delegation of German Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) led by Dr Chux Onaa in Abuja.

Audu described the visit as a significant step towards implementing previous agreements made at the 9th German-African Economic Forum earlier in the year. He emphasized Nigeria's rich mineral resources and the potential for industrial development, highlighting the government's dedication to creating a competitive and sustainable steel industry.

Key areas for collaboration include modern technology deployment, equipment manufacturing, mineral processing, and capacity development. Dr Onaa noted that the OEM's visit aims to consolidate investment opportunities in Nigeria's steel sector, indicating a growing interest from German industries in Nigeria's industrial landscape.
