Nigeria Surpasses EU in Births by 4 Million in 2025

Elon Musk, the Chief Executive Officer of Tesla, stated that Nigeria recorded four million more births than the entire European Union (EU) in 2025. This assertion was made in a post on X, where Musk aimed to emphasize the issue of declining birth rates in Europe.

He previously warned that Europe risks disappearing if it does not address its declining fertility rates. Musk's comments followed the sharing of an infographic that illustrated fertility rates across Europe, originally posted by an account named Giga Based Dad.

The infographic indicated that many European countries are experiencing low fertility rates, defining fertility rate as the expected number of children born per woman during her child-bearing years. Musk supported the infographic's message, stating that Europe must start having larger families to avoid further decline.

The infographic categorized countries with fewer than one child per woman as having an "extremely low" fertility rate and those with more than one child as having a "low" fertility rate.
