Atiku Abubakar Criticizes Tinubu Over Insecurity Issues

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President of Nigeria, condemned the death of former House of Representatives member Abba Adamu, who was kidnapped by bandits along the Abuja-Kaduna highway on May 3. Adamu was held captive for nine days before his death, despite efforts by his family to secure his release.

In a statement issued in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku criticized President Bola Tinubu's security strategies, stating that the death of Adamu is not just a personal tragedy but a reflection of the government's failure to fulfill its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property. He lamented that insecurity has become widespread, with citizens facing kidnappings on highways and farms, and called the current administration's approach to security "cruel." Atiku further emphasized that Nigerians now travel in fear, and business and agricultural activities continue to suffer disruptions due to the ongoing insecurity.
