Nigeria and Jordan Sign Defense Cooperation Agreement

On Sunday, Nigeria and Jordan signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening defense cooperation and intelligence sharing between the two countries. The agreement was signed in Amman, Jordan, by Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Alhnaiti.

The statement issued by Ahmad Dan Wudil, the Minister's Personal Assistant, indicated that the agreement seeks to boost bilateral defense relations and enhance cooperation in intelligence sharing to stabilize the region. The collaboration will encompass joint military training programs, the exchange of defense expertise, counter-terrorism operations, and cooperation in defense research and industry.

Matawalle described the memorandum as a significant step in deepening relations between Nigeria and Jordan amid growing global security threats. He emphasized the need for technology transfer and the establishment of production lines in Nigeria, reflecting a commitment to strengthen mutual trust and promote joint actions toward regional and global peace.
