Nigeria and Jordan Sign MoU for Defense Cooperation

On May 10, 2026, Nigeria and Jordan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Amman aimed at strengthening defense cooperation and enhancing intelligence sharing between the two nations. The agreement was signed by H.E.

Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawal, Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, and Major General Yousef Alhnaiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces.

This MoU provides a framework for intelligence exchange, development of defense capabilities, counter-terrorism efforts, joint military training, and mutual support in defense research and industry. Dr.

Matawal described the MoU as a significant milestone in Nigeria-Jordan relations, emphasizing the importance of defense cooperation in addressing contemporary security challenges. Both nations recognized the mutual benefits of cooperation and committed to deepening defense ties to promote peace and stability in the region.

The agreement also highlights the importance of technology transfer and establishing production lines in Nigeria.
