Nigeria Launches National Aviation Security Risk Team

Nigeria has officially launched the National Aviation Security Risk Management Team (NASRMT) to strengthen the country's aviation safety architecture. The inauguration ceremony took place at the corporate headquarters of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) in Abuja.

Chris Najomo, the Director General of NCAA, emphasized that this decision reflects Nigeria's commitment to proactively safeguard its civil aviation space against unlawful interference, terrorism, and emerging threats. The creation of this multi-sector team aligns with global standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), particularly the provisions of Annex 17 on aviation security.

Najomo highlighted that the establishment of NASRMT is a significant milestone in the evolution of Nigeria's aviation security framework and is a direct response to recommendations from a recent ICAO risk management workshop. He pledged full commitment to ensuring that Nigeria's civil aviation domain remains safe, resilient, and compliant with international best practices.
