Nigeria Advances Aviation Safety with ICAO Mission

Nigeria has achieved notable progress in aviation safety as a result of a technical mission organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in the West/Central Africa region. The mission concluded with a debriefing ceremony held at the corporate headquarters in Abuja over the weekend.

Capt. Chri Najomo, the Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), described the mission as a constructive engagement that aims to further boost Nigeria's readiness for the International Coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM) scheduled for April 15-22, 2026. The ICAO delegation recommended incorporating an accelerated action framework with clearly defined timelines and measurable outcomes to strengthen inter-directorate coordination.

Kebba Lamin Jammeh acknowledged Nigeria's high level of cooperation during the mission, which involved personnel from various agencies, including the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), and NCAA.
