SEID Report Reveals N40tn Manufacturing Potential in Nigeria

Nigeria is currently facing a significant challenge with over N40tn in untapped manufacturing opportunities, as imports accounted for 64% of local demand for manufactured goods in 2025, representing a $29.4bn market unmet by domestic industry. This information was revealed in the Nigerian Manufacturing Opportunity Report 2026, launched by SEID, a marketing communications and market intelligence firm, during the 54th Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria.
The report analyzes manufacturing opportunities across various subsectors, states, and industrial clusters, emphasizing the need for a tailored approach to industrial development. Tubosun Akeju, Managing Partner at SEID, stated that Nigeria possesses the demand and some industrial strengths necessary for a robust manufacturing sector.
The report also highlights a decline in manufacturing's contribution to GDP from 8.42% in 2023 to 8.05% in 2025, urging improvements in value chains, energy, logistics, and technical skills to enhance competitiveness and export potential.
