D’Tigress Fall to Minnesota Lynx in Kansas City Clash

On Tuesday, Nigeria's women's national basketball team, D’Tigress, faced the Minnesota Lynx in Kansas City, suffering a second consecutive defeat with a score of 88-79. The match, played at the Mobil Center, showcased a competitive performance from the Nigerian side, especially in comparison to their earlier 89-63 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks.

D’Tigress began the game strongly, with players like Amukamara, Ezinn Kalu, and Suzi Rafiu setting a fast pace, ending the first quarter narrowly at 27-26 in favor of the Lynx. The Lynx maintained a slim lead at halftime, 46-43, and gradually asserted control in the third quarter.

Despite the loss, Ezinn Kalu stood out with 25 points, while Gabbi White added 16 points. The team demonstrated improved balance in their attack, although shooting efficiency was a concern, converting only 40% of field goals compared to the Lynx's 50%.

The match was part of D’Tigress's preparation for the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, where they will compete in Group B alongside France, South Korea, and Hungary.
