Nigeria and Morocco Enhance Bilateral Relations on Energy

On a recent telephone conversation, Haq Ahm, Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Bourita, Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Morocco.

They emphasized the importance of the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project, which is a major infrastructure initiative along West Africa's Atlantic coast, aimed at advancing regional energy security and economic integration. The project is based on a partnership involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Company and Morocco's hydrocarbon sector.

Additionally, the ministers explored collaboration opportunities in fertilizer production and distribution, recognizing its critical role in food security across Africa. They indicated plans to host the second session of the Nigeria-Morocco bilateral joint commission, which aims to revitalize agreements signed in June 2018 during former President Muhammadu Buhari's visit to Morocco.

The Nigerian Minister expressed appreciation for the invitation extended to Mr. Bourita for an official visit to Morocco, which is expected to further strengthen their bilateral relationship and support Africa's development.
