Shehu Sani Welcomes US Troops to Combat Terrorism in Nigeria

Shehu Sani, a former senator, expressed his support for the arrival of 100 US troops in Nigeria, which is part of a security collaboration aimed at combating terrorism. He described this assistance as a necessary step in Nigeria's efforts to restore peace, particularly in light of ongoing issues such as kidnappings and killings by terrorist groups.

Sani made these remarks during an interview on Wednesday following the arrival of US military personnel and equipment in Nigeria. The deployment was confirmed by Samaila Uba, a spokesman for Nigeria's defense headquarters, who noted that this move follows a security agreement between Nigeria and the United States.

However, the presence of US troops has sparked debate and raised concerns regarding Nigeria's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Sani acknowledged the serious security challenges Nigeria faces and the existing distrust regarding foreign military presence, while also noting that Nigeria's sovereignty has already been compromised by the presence of foreign terrorists.
