Shehu Sani Calls for US Military Support in Nigeria

Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, stated that US military support is essential for Nigeria's anti-terrorism efforts. He spoke during an interview on Wednesday, following the arrival of 100 US military personnel at Nigeria's defense headquarters.

This deployment, confirmed by Director of Defense Information Maj Gen Samaila Uba, is part of a security agreement between the two nations. The US personnel will serve in advisory roles and assist in capacity development.

Despite some criticism regarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Sani expressed understanding of the severe security threats Nigeria faces. He noted that international military cooperation is a common practice globally.

The arrival of US troops comes amid concerns raised by President Donald Trump regarding Nigeria, particularly allegations of violence against Christians, which Nigerian authorities have denied. This military collaboration aims to enhance Nigeria's capabilities in combating terrorism effectively.
