Nigeria and Netherlands Strengthen Immigration Partnership

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has partnered with the Kingdom of the Netherlands to enhance immigration operations, marked by a ceremony in Abuja where equipment was presented. Akinsola Akinlabi, the Public Relations Officer of NIS, noted the significance of this collaboration, which has spanned over two decades.

Kemi Nandap, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, expressed gratitude to the Netherlands government and the Repatriation and Departure Service for their ongoing support of NIS's reform agenda. She emphasized the commitment to judicious use of the donated equipment and adherence to Hostmanship ideals.

Ronald Sonnemans, Chargé d’Affaires of the Netherlands Embassy in Abuja, described the partnership as a model of international cooperation, reinforcing the Netherlands' dedication to strengthening migration management and institutional capacity. This collaboration has previously led to the training of hundreds of NIS officers and the establishment of a Hostmanship Unit, supported by the European Union-funded Capacity Building and Relationship Management (CBR) Project.
