Shettima Launches Fund to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

On Sunday, Vice President Kashim Shettima called for a more supportive economic environment for women in Nigeria while launching the disbursement of the Community Investment Fund (CIF) under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) Project at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina. He noted that over 40,000 women in Katsina State are eligible for business capital after meeting specific conditions.
Shettima highlighted that the initiative aims to tackle the capital challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and enhance their business growth and household incomes. He stated, “We owe these women an economy worthy of their labour,” emphasizing the need for economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to improve citizens' earning capacities.
The CIF combines access to capital with training and financial literacy through Women Affinity Groups. Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda announced an additional N4 billion commitment to the program, totaling N8 billion, to expand economic opportunities for women, including those with hearing impairments.
