Nigeria Pilots AI System to Enhance Agricultural Advisory Services

Nigeria is implementing an AI-enabled digital extension system to improve agricultural advisory services for farmers. The initiative involves public and private sector collaboration to develop a platform that will provide scalable advisory services to millions of farmers.

Workshops have been held in Abuja to review and design the platform, with participation from organizations like the African Forum for Agricultural Advisory Services and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The system aims to address the challenges faced by Nigerian agriculture, such as low productivity and high poverty levels among farmers, by leveraging digital tools and artificial intelligence.
