€5M Grant to Boost Climate-Smart Agriculture in Africa

Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Malawi are set to benefit from a €5 million grant designed to enhance climate-smart agriculture across Africa. The grant, administered by the African Development Bank (AfDB), aims to strengthen the delivery of agricultural technology through the TAAT program.

Key stakeholders, including the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and various government representatives, gathered to discuss the implementation of this initiative. Innocent Musabyimana, Chief Agricultural Technology Officer at AfDB, emphasized the importance of partnerships in achieving food security and transforming African agriculture.

The grant will focus on strengthening seed systems, building technical capacity, promoting youth engagement in agriculture, and expanding digital advisory solutions. Rachel Zozo, managing the TAAT program, highlighted the need for strategic investments to address fragility in food systems.

The agreement aims to facilitate rapid execution of activities across the six targeted countries, ensuring long-term food security and resilience against global agricultural shocks.
