Samson Adamu Becomes CAF General Secretary, First Nigerian

On Thursday, Samson Adamu was confirmed as the substantive General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). This appointment marks a significant milestone as Adamu becomes the first Nigerian to serve as the Chief Operating Officer of CAF in its 70-year history.
Prior to this role, he joined CAF as the Director of Competitions and later served as the Director of Tournaments and Events. Following the resignation of Swiss-Congolese Veron Mosengo-Omba, Adamu was appointed as CAF's Acting General Secretary on 29th March.
Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme, the Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), expressed happiness over Adamu's confirmation, stating that he is a knowledgeable individual in football administration and that the NFF will provide necessary support for his success in this role.
