Nigeria Positioned to Lead Africa's Digital Economy

Gautier Mignot, the European Union ambassador to Nigeria, declared that Nigeria is set to lead Africa's digital and creative economy, driven by its youthful population and entrepreneurial spirit. Speaking at the Omnivers Africa Summit in Lagos, Mignot urged stakeholders across various sectors to strengthen partnerships to unlock opportunities for young people and accelerate economic transformation.

He noted that the digital and creative economy presents significant opportunities for Nigeria to diversify its economy and create jobs. Mignot highlighted a recent €45 million agreement aimed at supporting Nigeria's digital development, including the rollout of 90,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure.

This initiative aligns with the EU's commitment to investing in Nigeria's digital ecosystem and enhancing the skills of its youth. Additionally, Mignot mentioned programs promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, such as the Nigeria Jubilee Fellow Program, which aims to improve employment opportunities for graduates.

The summit also emphasized the importance of collaboration across sectors to foster sustainable and inclusive growth.
