Nigeria Showcases Education Reforms at Global Forum

At a global forum, Nigeria's Minister of Education, Dr. Alausa, presented the country's education reforms, highlighting the success of foundational literacy and numeracy initiatives.

He discussed the Nigeria Education Data Initiative (NEDI), which integrates educational data into a single dashboard. The minister noted that the country has successfully unified foundational literacy delivery across formal and non-formal education systems.

He revealed the Accelerated Basic Education Program (ABEP) aims to develop literacy outcomes for school children and adolescents within three years. Dr.

Alausa cited state-led reforms, such as EkoExcel, Kwaralearn, and BayelsaPrim, as examples of successful data-driven educational models. He announced plans to increase the federal government's share of consolidated revenue funding for basic education from two percent to four percent.

This initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to provide a sustainable legal framework for educational reforms across Nigeria.
