Nigeria Prepares for 2026 CAF Assembly and Awards Events

Nigeria is enhancing its preparations to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Ordinary General Assembly and CAF Awards. National Sports Commission Chairman Shehu Dikko engaged with CAF President Patrice Motsepe, General Secretary Samson Adamu, and special adviser Amaju Melvin Pinnick on October 9 during the CAF Strategy Conference in Cabo Verde.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled for November 21 in Abuja, while the CAF Awards will take place on December 7 in Lagos. President Bola Tinubu approved Nigeria's readiness to host these events during a meeting with Motsepe in May 2026 at the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.
The Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos have been designated as venues. Dikko's delegation included Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi and Saleh Amadu, chairman of TMPL, reflecting the collaboration between government and private sectors for successful event execution.
