Nigeria to Deploy 200 Special Forces to Türkiye for Training

Nigeria's Defence Minister, Christoph Musa, announced the deployment of 200 Nigerian special forces to Türkiye for training, following an agreement with Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler. This announcement was made during an interview at the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum held in Antalya, Türkiye.

The training is set to commence immediately upon the return of the personnel to Nigeria. Musa highlighted that Türkiye has allocated a training quota for the Nigerian special forces, with the first exercise scheduled for later in the year.

The agreement also includes provisions for joint defense equipment production and military technology transfer between Nigeria and Türkiye. Musa emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two countries, dating back to the 1960s, and noted that both nations share experiences in combating terrorism.

The Antalya Diplomacy Forum featured discussions on various global defense and security topics, attended by leaders and diplomats from 150 countries.
