Nigeria and Turkey Sign Defense Pact for Military Training

Nigeria has entered into a defense pact with Turkey, which includes sending 200 Nigerian military personnel to Turkey for advanced training in counter-insurgency operations. This agreement was formalized during the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, attended by various foreign ministers, including Turkey's Minister of Defence, Yaşar Güler.

The Minister of Defence of Nigeria expressed his privilege in holding a sensitive position within the defense sector and highlighted the importance of international military training for enhancing Nigeria's defense capabilities. The pact is part of a broader strategy to strengthen military alliances and address security challenges faced by Nigeria.

The Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria has also been actively engaging in discussions about security issues, emphasizing the need for effective military strategies in modern warfare. The training is expected to provide valuable exposure and experience to the Nigerian personnel, contributing to the overall improvement of the country's defense capabilities.
