Nigeria Enhances Foreign Policy for Citizen-Centered Diplomacy

On June 23, 2026, Nigeria's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Shola Enikanolaiy, reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to strengthening the country's foreign policy institutions. The announcement was made during a courtesy visit from a delegation of the Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria (ARCAN), led by Chairman Ambassador Joe Keshi. Enikanolaiy acknowledged ARCAN's contributions to the development of Nigeria's diplomatic services and emphasized the need for comprehensive institutional reform to enhance capacity and improve management systems.

The minister highlighted the importance of economic diplomacy to attract investments and expand trade opportunities. Additionally, he assured ARCAN members of the government's commitment to addressing pension and welfare concerns affecting retired foreign service officers.
