Nigeria's Foreign Affairs Minister Advocates People-Centred Policy

On a recent visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, assured a delegation from the Society for International Relations and Awareness (SIRA), led by President Owei Lakemfa, of Nigeria's commitment to a people-centred foreign policy. Enikanolaiye stated that a robust domestic economy is essential for effective foreign policy and that Nigeria's international relations will prioritize national interests.

He mentioned ongoing reforms within the Ministry aimed at enhancing professionalism and policy coordination. Addressing recent xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa, he revealed that Nigeria is working with ECOWAS to elevate the issue to the African Union while engaging constructively with the South African government.

Enikanolaiye reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to the One China Policy and other longstanding foreign policy positions. Owei Lakemfa congratulated Enikanolaiye on his appointment and expressed SIRA's support for the Ministry's efforts in promoting public awareness of foreign policy.
