Coalition Critiques U.S. Lawmaker's Call to Remove Matawalle

The Nigerian American Coalition responded to U.S. lawmaker Kimberli Daniel's recent call for the removal of Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, describing her remarks as ill-informed and driven by external reports. Daniel's statement, made on her Facebook page, referenced a security assessment report that raised concerns about Matawalle's continued tenure, linking it to allegations during his governorship in Zamfara State.

The Coalition emphasized that such comments could distort Nigeria's security realities and undermine its sovereignty. They argued that Nigeria's insecurity, particularly in the North Central and North West regions, stems from long-standing structural issues and cross-border criminal networks, rather than the actions of a single public official.

The Coalition called for a more evidence-based approach to addressing Nigeria's security challenges and urged international partners to engage with Nigeria accurately, stressing the importance of unity and strategic coordination for the country's stability.
