Nigerian Army Denies Alleged Recruit's Death During Training in Gombi State

The Nigerian Army has denied reports of the death of Ibrahim Nazifi, an alleged recruit during military training at the depot in Zaria, Gombi State. The Army's Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Zaria depot, Captain Chikadibia Viola Anel, dismissed the claims as false and misleading.

Records show that Nazifi successfully passed the state recruit screening exercise in December 2025 but was not admitted to the training program at the depot. The Army stressed that no injuries or deaths occurred during the training and urged the Gombi State government and relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged death.

The Army emphasized the rigorous nature of military training and the importance of ensuring trainees' safety through robust safety measures and medical coverage. They cautioned against spreading unverified information that could damage the Army's reputation.
