Nigerian Artists Earn N60bn from Spotify by 2025

According to a report by Spotify, Nigerian artists are projected to generate over N60 billion in revenue from the streaming platform by 2025, representing a 140% increase over the last two years. In 2024, Spotify paid N58 billion to Nigerian artists, and the total lifetime payout is expected to approach N70 billion by 2025.

The report highlights that Nigerian artists generated 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours on Spotify, with 1.3 billion first-time listens, a 26% increase compared to 2024. Local consumption remains strong, with 80% of tracks featuring in Nigeria's daily top 50.

The report also notes a 170% year-on-year growth in domestic listening of Nigerian music. Jocelyn Muhutu Remi, Managing Director of Spotify Africa, emphasized the platform's role in connecting local talent with global audiences.

Additionally, independent artists saw a 75% growth in streams, underscoring the importance of independent creators in Nigeria's music industry.
