Nigerian Basketball Player, Israel Friday Dies During Training

Israel Friday, a Nigerian basketball player, tragically passed away during a training session at the Varsity Training Centre in Diliman. The 20-year-old, who was set to turn 20 on September 6, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Friday had recently signed with the Fighting Maroons and was described as a promising forward from Abuja, Nigeria. Bo Perasol, the Director of the Office of Athletics and Sports Development, confirmed the devastating news and expressed the university community's grief.

Friday, who had transferred from Centro Escolar University, had already made a mark in the University Colleges Athletic League (UCAL) and was seen as an exciting young talent in Philippine collegiate basketball. His sudden death has left a void in the basketball community.
