Nigerian Military Kills ISIS Leader Abu Bilal al-Minuki

The Nigerian military confirmed the killing of Abu Bilal al-Minuki, a senior ISIS leader, during a joint counter-terrorism operation conducted in collaboration with U.S. forces. This operation was carefully coordinated and successfully eliminated al-Minuki, who was described as a key figure within the global ISIS network.

The announcement followed a disclosure by U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated that American and Nigerian forces jointly executed the mission.

Major General Samaila Uba, Director of Defense Information, noted that the operation was made possible through strengthened intelligence sharing between the two countries, aimed at disrupting violent terrorist networks threatening Nigeria and the West African region. Al-Minuki had previously served as the emir of ISIS-linked operations across the Sahel and West Africa, overseeing attacks against civilians, particularly targeting ethnic and religious minority communities.

His death is viewed as a major breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region.
