Nigerian Navy Dismantles Three Illegal Refining Sites

On Sunday, the Nigerian Navy announced the deactivation of three illegal refining networks in Rivers State, executed by troops of Operation DELTA SENTINEL. The operation, conducted by personnel from Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni area, resulted in the discovery of illegal refining sites linked to crude oil theft.

Approximately 43,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and 18,000 litres of suspected illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) were recovered, totaling 61,000 litres of petroleum products. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorusho stated that this operation underscores the persistent attempts by criminal elements to reactivate illegal refining activities despite ongoing enforcement efforts.

He emphasized the Nigerian Navy's commitment to maintaining an operational presence in identified hotspots to prevent economic sabotage and protect national assets, supporting the Federal Government's goals for enhanced oil production and economic security.
