Navy Seizes 10,000 Litres of Suspected Stolen Crude Oil

Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship Delta (NNS Delta) uncovered a dugout reservoir containing about 10,000 litres of a substance suspected to be stolen crude oil in Oteghele, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. This discovery occurred last Wednesday during an anti-crude oil theft operation, following credible intelligence regarding illegal petroleum activities in the area.

The operation was conducted under the command of Commodore Shehu Tasiu. A statement signed by Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, indicated that the reservoir and its contents were handled according to established procedures to prevent further illicit use.

The Navy emphasized that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal operators access to crude oil and the infrastructure facilitating its illegal exploitation. This initiative aligns with the strategic directives of the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, aimed at protecting critical national infrastructure within Nigeria’s territorial waters.
