Nigerian Traders Block Onitsha Bridge Over Market Shutdown, Soludo Faces Protests

Nigerian traders staged a protest by blocking the Onitsha head bridge in Anambra State following Governor Chukwuma Soludo's closure of the state's main market. The traders were seen demonstrating on the bridge, a crucial entry and exit point for Anambra State.

The protest stemmed from security operations denying entry to the market, as ordered by Governor Soludo. The situation escalated after the traders' initial protest at the Onitsha main market.

Governor Soludo had threatened to shut down the market if traders continued to observe a sit-at-home order in honor of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) who is currently serving a life sentence in Sokoto Prison.
