“Nigerian University Has 800 Students, 1,200 Staff,” Tinubu’s Minister Explains

Minister of Education Tunji Alausa revealed that a Nigerian university has 800 students and 1,200 staff members, leading to concerns about the government's allocation of resources. Alausa's comments were made in response to the government's decision to establish additional federal tertiary institutions.

The Federal Executive Council meeting on August 13 discussed the issue, with Alausa stating that the government inherited 551 pending applications for new institutions, which have now been reduced to 79 active cases. The aim is to prevent duplication and waste in the education sector.

Additionally, it was noted that top private universities in Nigeria are often funded by prominent individuals, including politicians and religious leaders. This information was compiled in a list of private institutions and their programs, highlighting the diverse sources of funding in the education sector.
